To help others with little regard for reward is honorable. It is a step towards the humility which the creator has asked us all to seek. Whatever your beliefs or what spiritual group you assign yourself to, every great teacher has taught us to be humble. Service to others is a component of humility.
When a friend asks for your help, so everything you can to answer their call. Your karma or whatever depends on it. Plus, when you need them, they are more apt to answer yours.
Paying it forward is a great way to adjust your soul. Contribute to those little fund raiser type things at the registers. Donate when they ask you at ACE Hardware if you want to round up to the nearest dollar. You probably won’t miss it anyway. And, it may help someone in need.
So, this morning I went to a friend’s home and worked in his yard. I didn’t care about the pay. I was just glad to have an opportunity to be in the cool air. We did manly things if such things exist anymore. The lines are skewed, but that is another topic for another time that probably won’t happen.
Service is a good thing. It heals the soul and, if you choose something that you like to do, then it’s not really work anyway. Humble yourself enough to give some of your time or money to a just cause.
